About the Foreign Direct Investment Awards

The Foreign Direct Investment Awards is the only industry event that brings together and celebrates the achievements of the broad community and ecosystem of players in the business of foreign direct investment.

Taking place in November 2018, the awards evening is the main event in the FDI Awards calendar, taking place after a series of thought-leadership dinners which are aimed at further building, engaging and nurturing the FDI community through discussion and debate.

The Financial Times fDi Magazine, our principal media partner for the awards, reports that the UK has held on to its top ranked position as an investment destination in Europe with 22% market share worth £38bn, showing that our inward investment appeal retains its dominance despite Brexit uncertainties. Furthermore, FDI created an all-time high of 2,265 FDI projects creating more than 75,000 jobs according to the most recent report from the Department of International Trade for 2016-17. Importantly, this is a multi-sector, nationwide trend with the UK regions performing particularly robustly.

In hosting the FDI Awards in 2018, we offer a proven marketing platform for engaging key influential audiences, building corporate profile, entertaining clients, networking within the industry and rewarding your teams. Our 2018 sponsorship packages are detailed on the website as well as a lot of positive feedback that we received in 2017 from our distinguished panel of judges and sponsors.

We look forward to welcoming more than 200 people in November to celebrate the ten awards presented to the organisations, teams and individuals who contributed to the success story that FDI into the UK enterprise economy is today. Please visit the bookings page for further details on how to get involved in any of the events.

We look forward to welcoming you.

A Review of the FDI Awards 2017

“The inaugural FDI Awards evening was a triumph! It was very well attended and there was a real sense of anticipation in the room as the winners were announced. The event was extremely well organised and, unlike the Oscars ceremony, no winner envelopes got mixed up!”

The FDI Awards 2017 were attended by over 200 people from across the inward investment industry and featured speakers RT Hon Greg Hands and Michael Charlton from the Department for International Trade. Counted among the award winners were Fitzgerald & Law, Dolfin, Aston Currency Management, and Northern Powerhouse Developments.

Dinner Series

The FDI Awards are part of a series of dinners designed to promote debate and discussion whilst enjoying fine food and wines for key players in the FDI Industry. The first dinner took place on May 8th at the Montcalm Hotel and was attended by 34 key players in the FDI industry including representatives from professional and financial services, government bodies, FCOs and Foreign Embassies.

A discussion panel moderated by Courtney Fingar, Editor-in-Chief of FDI Magazine included insightful commentary from Bob Wigley, Chairman of UK Finance, Dan Cowen, British Embassy Beijing, Jin Xu, Minister Counsellor Chinese Embassy, and Rupert Gather, Chairman of the FDI Awards. Each offered a different perspective on what Brexit might mean for the key drivers of UK FDI. Please click here to view the footage.

In a speech later in the evening, Robbie Lyle, Chairman of Commonwealth DC correctly brought attention back to the Commonwealth, including countries such as Singapore, as a source of prosperity post-Brexit, and linked it to China’s own commitment to the UK – together representing markets of nearly 4 billion people.

If your business is a key player in the UK FDI industry and would like to be considered to receive an invitation to the next in the series of FDI Awards dinners, planned for September please do so via the form on the Contact Us page.
